Demolition of Pudu Jail

>> Wednesday, June 30, 2010

When the clock stroked at 10pm on 21st June 2010, the 394-meter stretch of Pudu Jail is demolished after having served its purposes for the past 100 years. The prison itself stopped operating since 1996 and prisoners were shifted to Sungai Buloh prison.

I felt disappointed with the demolition of Pudu Jail. It's a waste. This building is one of the historical sites in Malaysia! So what if this building has housed criminals? Historical building should kept and preserved as tourist attractions! Yes, I know some of the people said Pudu Jail should be torn down to make way for development, it's haunted blablabla. To some extend, I do agree with it. But can't we keep one of the wall as a memory? However is it, Pudu Jail was demolished. Never mind, I visited Pudu Jail when I was young. So, i got no regret.

I went for a visit to Pudu Jail that day, the day when the jail gonna be demolished. That day, lots of people came. You can see those crews from TV stations, paparazzi were taking photos. The paparazzi even asked us to pose in front of their camera. ha! Posing can be difficult sometimes. Anyone see us in the TV? =p

That night.. Full of people.

Bye Pudu Jail.

after travelling to some countries, i actually found something very abnormal.

most of the developing countries (mostly asian), they will try to show to the world how great and how luxury their high rise buildings are, by destroying all the historical buildings they have.

and developed countries like europe, they are try to maintain as much building as they can and make it an attraction to all the visitors to their country.

no one will tear down eiffer tower because it is too short and build a higher one. even it is not the highest one in the world, but it is the most visited tower in this world.

sometime, we just feel disappointed with all these stupid people that leading our country.

too bad i didnt manage to take a photo of this building.

To Ding,

Ya, we can see those developing countries have wonderful tall building.
Most of the historical buildings are destroyed. Maybe for them, keeping it is a waste of place.
Diff ppl has diss mind.
Since government has decided to torn it down, there's ntg much we can do.
They are jz taking development as priority.
What a waste. You should take a photo of it. Have u visit it b4?
